St James Green Methodist Church, Thirsk

Thirsk Methodist Church offers a warm and friendly Yorkshire welcome to everyone.  Situated in the ‘Old Town’ part of Thirsk, it overlooks St James Green and is a short walk of a few minutes from the Market Place.

The church is actively seeking new ways to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ finding new ways to live out its discipleship and mission. See ‘Our Vision’ page.

Thirsk Methodist Church is now registered for same sex marriages to take place. The current Minister, Revd. Denise Williamson is also appointed to conduct Same Sex Marriages at the church. The Minister can also bless same sex marriages that have been authorised in a civil ceremony elsewhere. If you would like to have your wedding at Thirsk Methodist Church please contact the Minister or fill in the contacts form on the bookings page.

The church welcomes all to its services and events and is working towards ensuring that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are always in our thoughts and mission.

We have regular Coffee Mornings: hold events such as St James Day and a Christmas Tree Festival. At a recent Vision Day many ideas for reaching out with the gospel of Christ were put forward.

We work closely with Churches Together in Thirsk and District supporting the Good Friday Walk of Witness, The Easter Trail and Carols at the Auction Mart.

The church building which was refurbished in 2009 is light and airy and is fully carpeted with comfortable seating. This allows the space to be flexible for different types of worship and for hosting events and groups.

The church has full disabled access and an audio visual system. It has its own small carpark and there is also free parking outside the church. The Marage car park is only a few minutes away.

Please browse this website to find out more about us and even visit our church. We would be delighted to meet you.
