Thirsk Methodist Church News

We have recently had an email from our former minister Reverend Denise Williamson and her husband Simon with some exciting news about the Methodist Modern Art Collection. Works from this collection were a great inspiration to all of us who took part in Simon's excellent "Faith as Art" workshops. Below is what Reverend Denise wrote to tell us:

Today Simon and I received copies of 10 images from the MMAC. This came about because we spoke to Katharine Farnham Dear when she came to our first ‘Faith as Art’ exhibition at Thirsk. She spoke to all of the artists and simon and myself about ways of using the MMAC.

Simon suggested making copies of the pictures onto board which would be cheaper for churches to put on Exhibitions of the MMAC. The MMAC took up this idea and Simon and I were chosen to be one of the first recipients of the collection which arrived today!  We are ‘Custodians’ with the duty to use and promote the pictures to spread the gospel!
